Below you’ll find all the information you need for our upcoming auditions

We are currently auditioning for:

Audition Date: 6th September 2025

Principal Roles Available:

Dorothy – Singing, Acting and Dancing Required (Age Limit: 14+)

Scarecrow – Singing, Acting and Dancing Required (Age Limit: 16+)

Tinman – Singing, Acting and Dancing Required (Age Limit: 16+)

Cowardly Lion – Singing, Acting and Dancing Required (Age Limit: 16+)

Glinda the Good Witch – Singing and Acting Required (Age Limit: 16+)

The Wicked Witch of the West – Acting Required (Age Limit: 16+)

The Wizard of Oz – Acting and Dancing Required (Age Limit: 16+)

We are also looking for smaller roles and ensemble members, no audition is required for these, please get in touch to find out how to be a part of this production!

Rehearsal Information:

To begin with, rehearsals will be on Thursdays, 7-9pm at Blackwood Miners’ Institute. You will need to be available every Thursday.

As we enter 2026, we are hoping to increase our rehearsals to twice a week, the second day to be decided. We will ask about your availability at auditions, so please have this information available.

Should you be successful, you’ll be expected to be available every week night leading up to the show (23th/24th/25th March) for various tech and dress rehearsals. And of course, for the shows themselves on 27th/28th/29th March.

Age Restrictions:

Please note the above age restrictions per role. Anyone under this age who applies will unfortunately not be considered for that role, however, we do have parts for children aged 10+ that might be suitable, if you are interested in one of these roles, please reach out.

Any performer under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian to all rehearsals.

Show Fees:

If you are successful with your audition, or are offered another role in the production, you will be liable to pay either a show fee or to become a member of our society. This will ensure you are covered on our insurance, and help to cover costs for things such as props and costume for your character.

The show fee is £200 (£100 for under 18s) but if you wish to become a member for the year, you may remain with us beyond the production and take part in smaller performances at local events, and have a say in what big production we put on next! Our annual membership fee is £300 (£150 for under 18s) and can be paid in quarterly or monthly installments.
